Abstract

In this article we examine the matters of image coding using neural networks of a SOFM type (Self-Organizing Feature Maps). The results of researches of application of a Kohonen card (SOFM) for performance of vector quantization are given. The general coding scheme includes vectorization of the image, vector quantization using neural network SOFM and arithmetic coding at a stage of condensation lost-free.
