Abstract

The paper proposes a modification of the method of Donnelly, which is a refinement of the map distance to the surface to perform parallax mapping. The basic idea of the refinement is taking into account the conditions for the visibility of points, forming a map of distanc-es to determine the minimum distance from the point to the surface. The result of the method decreases the number of iterations of the trace species of the vector in the texture mapping on surfaces with complex topography that makes it possible to reduce the computational cost and increase productivity without loss of precision. The method can be used in computer graphics rendering systems with a high degree of real-ism .
