Abstract

The suggested system refers to diagnostic and control means of optic cable in fiber optic communication links (fiber optic reflectometry). On the base of classic optical reflectometer intended for optic cable control, the automatic real-time diagnostic and control system for fiber optic tract is proposed. The system allows to determine rapidly and react to optic cable damage or non-authorized access to fiber optic network. Thus, the system can be applied both for automatic diagnostics of optic cable damage and for automatic monitoring of safe information transmission. The suggested system not only determines the damage or non-authorized access, but determines the distance to faulty by means of the software.
